The mission of the Al-Haqq Islamic Center is fostering an understanding of the religion of Al-Islam that would realign us with the original pattern that was established for human excellence as exemplified through all God's prophets. Then to assist in the establishment of model communities by following the guidance of God and the example of Muhammad the prophet (PBUH) who established one of the first model communities.

ReplyDeleteIt would be nice for all of the current members to post something for future members, maybe a brief history of your personal walk in Islam, or memories from the beginning of Al-Haqq for those of us who weren't around, or something about your favorite Eid calebration, tips for surviving your first Ramadan :)
Additionally, it would be nice for new members to post something as well so we can all get to know each other. I think only half of the members make it to the friday service, so it takes a long time for everyone to meet.

ReplyDeleteThat's not a bad idea, Kelly. Also, we need to promote the use of this "Blog" to the members of the community. Many are using Facebook and other social networks consistantly. Perhaps they could drop by this site at least periodically and share their thoughts.

I also suggest that we add an instructional guidance for those who wish to participate with these Blogs. I had difficulty in accessing, or posting a Blog. Had I not had another Blog profile established from another medium, I would still be scratching my head trying to understand the requirements necessary to post a blog comment here.
ReplyDeleteI found it was easiest when I tried to post to click on the google account option, as it allowed me to sign up using my existing email address and only took seconds to compose an ID.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how many members are checking this site, but with the weather breaking it is time to start preparing physically, mentally and financially for work that needs to be done at the center. Last year, we made monumental strides towards completion of the Masjid, but there is alot to be done still. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, and I seem to remember a saying, maybe an ayat about whoever builds a Masjid for the sake of Allah, Allah builds a house for them in Paradise...
ReplyDeleteSo, we all need to be striving towards the goal of completing all necessary work THIS year. Even those who aren't physically or financially able can help. We need all of the cabinets scrubbed with a bleach/dawn mixture so they can be painted, all of the insides of the cabinets need cleaned, there are weeds that need pulled and a huge pothole in the driveway that needs gravel or something. I can think of a thousand small chores that need done. There are alot of things that aren't physically demanding, just tedious. Maybe we can get a list together and people can sign up to do them, what does everyone think about that?
